Neil Patrick Harris- One of A Kind Autobiography

Neil Patrick Harris is greater than Doogie Howser and Barney Stinson. You don't believe me? Check his very unique choose your own autobiography. It's true that  this is not full of words of wisdom, but well there are hidden lessons (and pages... Kungaloosh!) I believe... but he is so funny and witty as hell. I finished a NPH story for about 20 mins, since I picked correct story lines. But of course I wanted to know more about NPH.
NPH is former child star who fancies magic, who loves broadway and Cobie Smulders. Yes, he did mention that if women are not gross or sticky, Cobie Smulders is the girl he wants to marry. Awwww....

But well, spoiler alert NPH is gay and now newly married with David Burka and have 2 kids.

Check out the trailer below. This is the best celebrity autobiography so far.. hehehe

Swimming in the sea of Books

"I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined"

My new year's resolution for 2014 is to read more books. I've read some awesome books last year. Can't wait to discover more stories. Here are some book review.

NON FICTION

1) Dispatches from the Edge A Memoir of War and Survival by Anderson Cooper
Favorite Line from the book: "Hope is not a Plan", "There is no dignity in drowning, no silent succumbing to the water's ebb and flow", "War is hell, butt hell it's also an opportunity".
-I know Anderson Cooper as a private cable news anchor. In his memoir, he reveals his tragic family story. His father died when he was 10. His brother jump from the family's penthouse in front of his mother.  A Yale graduate can't find an entry level job. He started his career as a war correspondent using a fake press pass. He went to different war and disasters. He seems strong but admits he cried at some moments while he is in field seeing dead bodies, explosions and disasters. He always tell the truth, even if it's ugly.

This is a book that made me see reality... the harsh reality. The war that happened that I didn't heard before. The sufferings, conditions, thoughts of other people is worth reading. Anderson Cooper may be born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he is willing to use all his energy to be with other people, mostly in difficult situations, to comfort, help and share their stories to ordinary people like us.

RATING: 5 out of 5

2) Quiet The Power of Introverts in A World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
Favorite Line from the book: “Spend your free time the way you like, not the way you think you're supposed to.” , “Don't think of introversion as something that needs to be cured.”

RATING: 4 out of 5

FICTION

1) Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Favorite Line from the book: “Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”, “I just want to break that song into pieces and love them all to death.”
- A tragic ending. Park is my ideal guy. In this story "the more you hate the  more you love" is true.
This is a modern Romeo and Juliet.

RATING: 4 out 5

2) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hazel is a 16 year old girl with stage IV thyroid cancer, and has been living with an oxygen tank since she was first diagnosed at 12. She realizes she is going to die, but she is on a drug that is keeping the tumors at bay. At a support group meeting she meets hottie Augustus Waters, who is in remission. They immediately hit it off and change each others lives drastically.

To be continued...

Gives you hell

I’ve got so many things to tell. I don’t know if I can say all those things.

First I still don’t have a cellphone. My father is too thrifty. I am thrifty but he is just too thrifty and it is annoying. I got depressed sometimes not because I don’t have the cellphone or maybe it’s a part of it but the issue is they don’t give me something I like. I mean I may not be the best daughter but I behaved or I pretend to behave the way they like. I don’t go anywhere past 9 pm, I have good grades… so I guess I need some reward.

I don’t have an internet. I go to computer shops every time I needed to. And if you don’t know my course is Bus. I.T. so I really need internet services. I don’t ask them to give money to buy clothes, CDs or books. I’m using all my savings. As of now I have 20 bucks. I just bought Bob Ong’s Kapitan Sino. I really like to have Paolo Coelho’s Veronica Decides to Die. When we are at National I said that I like that book to my mom. She said she will buy me when it’s “salary time”. Well it’s almost august and she told me that last July. Damn it. I cried every time the cellphone issue comes into my mind.

I am about to graduate this March. And I’m already planning my future. I said to myself that I will apply to call center because the salary is quite high. If I will get about maybe 10-20 thousand in my first job, I will give 5 thousand bucks to my parents then the rest is for my luho and maybe save a little. At my first salary I will buy the latest cellphone. I know that I said before that I can live without that, I still can but it’s different. I want something I never had. I will also save some money for my “laptop fund”. I hate my laptop now. REALLY!! DAMN IT!! I also planned to go to abroad, maybe anywhere in Asia or Europe. I also said before that I will not go work abroad but things changed and I am changing too. I want to go to abroad primarily not because of earning dollars but because I want to be independent. I said before that I am not ready to go anywhere because I will be away with my family and I will be away with my favorite bands. But I said that couple of years ago, and at that time I am still young still thinking of stupid things. Now I am 19. I am way matured than before.

A lot of notable people died this year. And we are just half way through it. Francis M., Michael Jackson and now Cory Aquino. I just come to realize that a lot of things may happen that we never expect that it would happen. And now we are losing and losing iconic people who let us rediscover the words Pinoy Pride , Democracy and other words that we will not learn without them.

Books of Summer

“hey moon please forget to fall down… hey moon don’t you go down”

My vacation is almost over. It’s been a good vacation for me. First we went to Hong Kong. We are lucky that A(H1N1) is not yet known at that time. But you know what when I was at the airport and we were searching for the bag counter a stewardess was running towards me. Then she can’t speak in English but she was pointing at my ears. I thought my cross earrings are not allowed at Hong Kong. Then she had this thermometer and put it on my ears. My family is laughing very hard because I look like sabog or I am sick daw. I remember tuloy my prof wo told me that I look like Ebola virus…Hahaha… good times…

Then I had this training for almost a month. They promised to give us P60 per day as an allowance but still we don’t have it. I hope they willit. It’s almost June. WTF!!!

Then I finished reading books that I’m dying to read. It’s a nice combination. I read The Secret ,The Alchemist, and I’m still reading Catcher in the rye. Hehehe… the latter one was written decades ago but I think the situation of Holden is really modern. I think it’ really a good book. But I’m not yet done reading it. FYI my cousin’s name is Holden. So now I know where my Tito got it. It’s a nice book to read to start a new school year. It’s about a boy who failed in almost his entire subjects. Anyways I’m not yet done reading New Moon because I lost my interest. Well I’m about to finish reading it pero tinamad na ko. The movie helped me to not finish it. I am not a fun of Twilight. I’m reading just for the hell of it. I’m still looking forward to read Paolo Coehlo’s books. I think I might read those books since I really have a lazy schedule.

Speaking of my schedule I called it lazy because in 5 school days I will go to school for 3 times only. Tapos puro half day. puro pang gabi din. Sabi ko nga kay Lis kung may swine man sa school naming di kami mahahawaan kasi lagging half day at pang gabi kami. Ahahahah….

Oh I want to start my 4th year in college… I’m dying to graduate…

My Universe

“I don’t think that you even realize the joy you make me feel when I’m inside… your universe”
Surprisingly enough I am reading 3 books consecutively. The first book I am reading is “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer but I began to be irritated so I try reading “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. These two books are e-books so it means I’m using electricity while reading it. When I am not using my laptop I am reading a book called “The art of Happiness” by Dalai Lama that was given by a family friend 2 or 3 years ago. I would say it’s advisable to read “The Secret” and “The Art of Happiness” one after another. These 2 books are about ways on finding happiness.

I would say “The Secret” is a life changing book because it changed my perceptions and way of thinking about things. I realized I am sending negative signals to the Universe that’s why I don’t have what I wanted. The Secret goes like this… you should think of things you wanted. For example you want a new cellphone. Visualize it, think of it. Then believe that you received it. The Universe will do its work. I think you should read it to really understand The Secret.

A while ago I opened my Facebook. I saw something that made me shiver. I have a secret admirer daw and it’s one of my friends list. I opened it but it let me jump in some site. I think that it is like a propaganda… alam mo naman sa internet ang daming nag po-pop up. Pero maybe believing “The Secret” the universe made my simple wish come true. I have a crush to one of my friend on my friends list and I keep on thinking that we are together etc. so maybe The Universe answered it… I don’t know… I’m confused…

What I’m doing right now? I am fixing my Universe according to what I wanted to happen… I hope the genie will answer my wishes in pursuit of happines….

oh Tuesday

May 22, Tuesday

“Oh Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, ang lungkot araw pag dating ng Tuesday”

I went to a mall to buy internet load, earphones for my MP3 and 2 C battery for the remote control car of my lil’ bros. I went first to National Bookstore. I headed at the book area. I don’t know why. Then I saw this book by Bob Ong (the author of a very funny but good book ABNKKBSNPLKO) entitled “Stainless Steal Longanissa”. I have thoughts of buying that book pero I got confused when I saw “5 Person You Meet in Heaven”. Konti lang naman yung dala kong pera. Mga 280 ata yung book. Then nakita ko tong “Tuesdays with Morrie”. 270 bucks. Kaso I really want the “5 Person..” dati pa. pero mukhang maganda naman din yung “Tuesdays With Morrie” kasi same author lang naman. So I buy “Tuesdays… “Instead. It’s my 2nd time to buy a book with my own money. The first time was when I buy the “Tikman Ang Langit…”. I read books but I don’t usually buy I’ll borrow lang than buying one, like borrowing from library and from friends.

Nung bibili ako ng earphones nagkulang pera ko. Buti naawa sa akin yung nagbebenta. Haha…

Then when my job is done, I went home. Naglakad nga lang ako pauwi. Hindi biro yung nilakad ko. Ang layo din yun noh. Then I read that book agad. Quite good ha kahit I just read some part of it. So now I can’t wait to buy another book. I buy albums more than my clothes. Actually I don’t buy my own clothes. Haha. I let my mother do that for me. so ngayon I add books sa mga list na I’ll buy with my own money. Naku madugong pag-iipon ito.

Tignan mo nga naman. Bumili ako ng “Tuesdays with Morrie” on Tuesday.

I’m surrounded by rock stars at a bookstore

I should have a practice at 1-4 pm for my finals for p.e. but I try to forget about it because I want to go to Powerbooks Greenbelt in Makati. And I did. I went there even I have other things to do. I went there alone. I arrived 3:30 pm. I saw this girl singing eraserhead songs like “with a smile”, at another one… nakalimutan ko na kung ano kinanta niya pang isa. Then for her last song she sang “Kool Ka Lang”. and I think she mentioned that they have gigs in U.S.A. with Introvoys. Sorry I don’t know kung sino yung girl. There is the VIP area, to go there you should purchase the book but it causes 580, the original price is 180. 580 pesos for foods and I think some freebies. I only buy the 180 pesos. 3rd world eh…
Anyways, I was shock to see different music personalities. They are everywhere inside the bookstore. When you look at front there is Marcus Hiway performing. At my right there’s Ebe Dancel. I also saw Diego Mapa and another member of Pedicab. Then I looked around to look for some books, then at the children’s area I saw this familiar guy, and yes, it is Buddy Zabala. He is talking with this girl with a kid. I don’t know if it is earnest because I don’t know how she looks like. Then parang nagkatinginin kaming dalawa ni Buddy. Hehe. And ako parang deadma eventhough deep inside I’m starstuck. di pa ako lumalapit sa kanila ha.
For his first song, Marcus sang a song that talks about changing. Parang something like this… dati puro drugs, marijuana, ecstasy ang inaatupag pero ngayon parang nagbago na.
Then I also saw these “sossy” looking people with nametags. I think they are the authors of the book, or some of them are their managers. I heard them talking and someone asked may gigs ba sila? Something like that. I also saw Anna, I know her name because of the nametag she has, and I don’t know if that’s the Eraserheads ex-manager, but I think she is because she bought a lot of books. I leave the bookstore at 6pm but I never forget to let my “Tikaman Ang Langit” to be sign by Buddy and Marcus. Hindi ko natapos yung buong pangyayari but I’m already satisfied. F.Y.I. I’m at page 27 of the book. So get yourself a copy!!
