1)Ambisyoso by Kamikazee- in the video you will see daw the real color of the band. Behind those tattoos, strong, funny personality hides inner “girly side”. It is a spoof of the Fab 5. in their version its Fag 5. the video is about reinventing yubg isang guy. But in the end na influence nila yung guy na maging “girly”. Yung video walang koneksyon sa song pero its funny. I will give 3 rock stars out of 5


2) Nakapagtataka by Sponge Cola- well the song I can feel its really x-mas time because of their outfit an may snow pa. head master Jim Paredes ay nag cameo role pa dito. Ok lang band performance. 2 rock stars out of 5

3) DVDX by Sandwich- they have some acting again. The video is about isang pirata na nag pa pirate ng mga cds. Another celebrity ang nag cameo si Edu Manzano. I like yung setting ng video. Astig!! 3 rock stars

4) Kung ayaw mo na sa akin by Sugarfree- the story starts with the guy and girl who play pranks to each other. In the end you will find out that they have a history before. They have this relationship na nabuo sa isang constraction site. The saying “the more you hate the more you love” is really true here. I love how the girl and the guy dance really crazy. 3 and a half rock stars

Review:
This is a pop rock/alternative/acoustic album. They don’t establish yet their own sound this is not new thing for a new band. Maybe when they have their 2nd album they will give us a real and improve “Juana sound”. In the album they have some songs that are common like saying goodbye and making “papansin” to the one you’ve been crushing on. But they also have this song that talk about being a queen of their city and what they want to happen this year.

1) Connected- it’s about feeling miserable and doing things in a wrong way. Maybe the one wrote is showing some “misbehaviors”. I don’t like to hear this often because it reminds me of some things. It is also about being unnoticed. So nakaka sad masyado ito.
2) Ikaw Pa Rin- Medyo parang sad yung sound. It’s about a relationship that had been finished but you know that he is still the one you love. Someone leaves him because he has another love one pero ikaw “siya pa rin” ang iniisip. May pagka rock yung sound.
3) This Year- a happy and upbeat song. It talks about what you want to happen this year. Parang may pag ka Barbie Almalbis yung tunog ni Shirley dito.
4) Goodbye- ito yung rock/ pop/ alternative na version. Yung mga sinabi niya ditto ay parang alibi lang. Ito yung tamang sabihin if makikipag break ka sa iyong irog. Heheee. It’s a perfect break-up song for me.
5) Jealous- it is simply about being jealous. Parang may pagka rap ata ito. Hehehe. Medyo mabilis kasi eh.
6) Pansinin Mo- it simply wants to get attention to somebody. One of my favorite songs in the album. Very simple lang pero maganda.i think it’s quite unique.
7) Reyna Ng Quezon City- a funny song. Even Shirley’s voice is funny. I like the rhyming. It is like imagining things. Masarap kantahin habang naliligo ka ng umaga.
8) Sige na Please- Song na nagmamakaawa. i also like this.
9) All- A long song. Pero astig.
10) Goodbye- the acoustic version. Mas gusto ko itong version na ito.
Packaging: Hindi masyado attractive.
Overall: hindi masyado worth it kasi 10 songs lang tapos yung isa acoustic version lang ng isang song tapos 285 bucks. Pero ok na din. Pero if you ask me kung ano yung pinaka least favorite kong cd from my collection ito siguro. Pero ok ito. I just want to repeat. 6 and a half rock stars. Ayos!!

Kami nAPO muna ultraelectromagneticjam

Usong-uso ngayon the trend of paying tribute to legendary artists. This involves reviving songs from a chosen artist to “pay tribute” to the music they created. Mostly, tributes are given to legendary artists who are no longer making music lately due to new fields, disbandment, taking a break, etc.

First came Ultraelectromagneticjam: The Music of Eraserheads. At first, I was having second thoughts about buying it because I had already recorded its album launch on tape, thanks to Jam 88.3! But I realized (naks, ang lalim noon!) that this is a collector's edition, and it’s much better to own a legitimate copy. Here is my review, even though this album is already a bit old:

1. Alapaap by 6cyclemind – Great and well-done. I know it’s hard to cover an E-Heads original. It’s not the absolute best, but they did a great job compared to other artists who contributed to this album. A nice opening track for an album!

2. Magasin by Paolo Santos – It just proves that it’s better if he sticks to acoustic rather than going the rock route.

3. Spolarium by Imago – Magnificent! It feels like the song is truly theirs. Aia de Leon makes it look and sound so fresh. I can even say it’s better than the original!

4. Overdrive by Barbie Almalbis – She made a cute version of it. But a "cute version" isn't really needed when reviving an E-Heads hit. It’s not that great, but it’s okay.

5. With A Smile by South Border – R&B version. Not too bad, but not that good either.

6. Tikman by Sugarfree – Same with Imago, they completely owned the song, even though people say Ely and Ebe sound somewhat alike. Even without seeing them, I can feel that they really enjoyed singing the song.

7. Ligaya by Kitchie Nadal – The song isn't really appropriate for a female singer. At first, it’s cute to hear her giggle at the line "Ilang ahit pa ba ang aahitin," but if you hear it all the time, you'll get sick of it.

8. Torpedo by Isha – A very unique rendition. Jazz version—astig!

9. Superproxy 2K6 by Francis M. & Ely Buendia – This version is much more energizing than the original! Ely tries to rap. It's great to listen to, especially when you're sleepy but need to stay awake.

10. Huwag Kang Matakot by Orange and Lemons – This is a song I like sometimes and dislike at other times—I'm not consistent with it. It might have been better if they stuck with Mcoy on lead vocals for this track.

11. Pare Ko by Sponge Cola – A fresher version. I don’t like the "tang ina" part, though, because Yael sounds hesitant saying it.

12. Huwag Mo Nang Itanong by M.Y.M.P. – Pop/acoustic version. Ayos! One of my favorites.

13. Hard To Believe by Cueshé – Lame version; they should have chosen a better band to perform this. They slur/eat some of the words.

14. Alkohol by Radioactive Sago Project – Okay lang.

15. Maling Akala by Brownman Revival – Reggae version. At first, I actually thought this was their original song!

16. Ang Huling El Bimbo by Rico J. Puno – When you hear this version, you'll just end up wanting the original.

17. Para Sa Masa by Various Artists – Astig!

Overall: This is a great album for the youth who aren't very familiar with the Heads. Since popular bands and artists covered the tracks, younger listeners will probably appreciate it more. But for those who love the Eraserheads, of course, they will stick to the original versions. 8.5 stars.

Next up among legendary artists is APO Hiking Society. I knew them mainly as entertainers and hosts on the noontime show Isang Linggo nAPO Sila, so I didn't know much about their musical legacy. When I heard various artists cover their songs on Kami nAPO Muna, I recognized a few tracks, but I didn't know they were originally by APO!

1. Pumapatak Ang Ulan by Parokya ni Edgar – It feels like they just sang it because they had to. But in fairness, it's relaxing.

2. Yakap Sa Dilim by Orange and Lemons – Very soothing. I love the style they brought to this track. One of my favorites on the album. Perfect for late-night listening to help you fall asleep.

3. Doobidoo by Kamikazee – I don’t know the original, but I can say this is very Kamikazee! A punk/rock/metal sound paired with an APO song equals an excellent rendition. Jay’s voice isn't perfect, but as the lyrics say, "Di naman kailangan boses mo'y maganda, basta may konting tono, madaling makanta."

4. Bawat Bata by The Dawn – Really good. They injected their own signature sound.

5. Awit Ng Barkada by Itchyworms – I think all of them sang on the track. If we're talking pure vocal quality, it's not super polished, but the overall vibe and sound are fine.

6. Batang-Bata Ka Pa by Sugarfree – They are always so good at covering songs. I wonder why!

7. Nakapagtataka by Sponge Cola – I've heard M.Y.M.P.'s and Rachel Alejandro's versions of this song, so I know it as a heavy ballad with some belting (birit) on the side. I was quite surprised that a rock band covered it. Their version is okay—not super outstanding, but it proves they can tackle any style.

8. Bakit Ang Babae by Sandwich – Sounds like it could be their own original song!

9. Ewan by Imago – So enjoyable and cheerful to listen to! Even though the song isn't typically meant for a female singer with the line "Bakit nga ba ganyan, dalaga'y 'di alam," she pulled it off effortlessly. Another one of my favorites!

10. Pag-ibig by Kitchie Nadal – Her voice sounds a bit sleepy here. Okay lang.

11. When I Met You by Barbie Almalbis – My favorite song on the album! She sang it so beautifully.

12. Panalangin by Moonstar88 – I’ve heard lots of versions of this song, but in fairness, they didn't disappoint. I think this is the best one!

13. Blue Jeans by Rocksteddy – N/A... I don’t like the band, so I always skip this song, same with...

14. Paano by Shamrock – N/A...

15. Anna by Top Suzara – Ayos! He has evolved. I used to know him for pure ballads, but now he's gone full rock! You wouldn't even guess it's Top singing.

16. Di Na Natuto by Sound – When I listen to this song, I keep picturing Gary V. The track is so heavily associated with him that you can't get his version out of your head, making any added tweaks feel unnecessary.

17. Kabilugan Ng Buwan by Drip – My favorite track! The sound and vocals are so good. ASTIG!!

18. Kumot At Unan by Boldstar – Pretty good, too. Ayos!!

Overall: A solid album for the youth of today who have little knowledge of APO's legacy. Giving them a tribute is well-deserved, considering they created music for nearly 30 years before taking a break, whereas the members of E-Heads are still active and making music in their respective bands. 7 rock stars.

Transit turned Gold because of me… sort of

The sophomore jinx is not true in the case of sponge cola. Their sophomore album Transit turned gold selling more than 15,000 copies. They even won the pop band award on ASAP which in short for popular band award. They have lots of supporters now coming to their gigs. You wouldn’t believe that they once play in a bar that only the waiters were watching and just waiting them to finish. Yael said they play as if there were lots of people. They did that because they did that all because of MUSIC. And that’s one of the thousand things why they are POP-ULAR!!. I believe that incident will never happen again. It’s clear that I’m not the only one who bought the album and became hooked with their music.

Ely the Famous

Ely in the past weeks are always on the blind items and headlines of different talk shows, newspapers and tabloids. Last week Christy Fermin of The Buzz tells about the vocalist na nagwawala, umiiyak sa isang bar because
1) Niloko daw siya ng record company (which is Sony-BMG)
2) Iniwan ng mga ka band mates niya(Yan Yuzon, Dok Sergio, Bogs Jugo)
3) Na laos na siya…

And she gave clues:
1) Yung First name niya ay may connection sa relihiyon
2) Yung Surname niya lagging binabaybay na avenue
3) Huling Elkwento ko na ito

She didn’t mention a name pero its clear that it’s Ely Buendia. For me, its not true. I may not know him personally but as what I read in magazines and as what people says about him he is reserve, quiet guy. Lalaking lalaki… So parang napaka un-Ely like talaga yung mga sinabi. Hindi Gawain ng isang Ely Buendia. Then yung mga issues pa ay nbelievable. Ely is definitely still in the band pupil which is still going strong. May mga gigs pa sila. And as I read sa magazine interview na soul mates sila as band members. I have total faith sa mga sinasabi nila. And about dun sa laos na siya… He may not be as famous as with his former band he is much happier now on what he has and his family. Fame is nothing if you are not happy right? Ely laos? With this issues coming out dehins pare ako!!

Catching up with movies

Nov. 30
We have no class today because of the typhoon that looks like Milenyo Part II.
I think of something to do and I came up with an idea to watch a movie. (Because I heard the song “Movie” by sponge cola) We have lots of movies some are pirated and original that were just displayed in our living room. I’m sure that they didn’t buy it just for display pero ganun nga ang nangyayari. As I ‘m searching for a movie to watch I saw “Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind” . I remember reading my seventeen mag, Kitchie was asked about her all time favorite movie and yes, she said that movie because it was too familiar daw. So I decide to pick the movie instead of “Somewhere in Time” and other old movies because I was intrigued why Kitchie said it was too familiar I watched it in my laptop. I munch on some Clover chips and Dingdong. I think the movie should be entitled “Eraserheads” because it is about getting rid of a memory of someone you love (di ko maalis na di ma connect sa music). I love the notion of the movie. Now I’m confused why Kitchie said it was too familiar for her. Nagpabura nab a din siya ng memory? Hahaha. The movie is ok but it wouldn’t be my all time favorite.

Nov. 2 (Saturday)

Grabe! I have classes the whole week. I had practice today from about 8:00 to 12:30, then I attended this event for freshmen and junior college students. Our section won 3rd place for the presentation we made! Tomorrow, I need to wake up early because I have to go to MCU for my org activities.

A while ago, while waiting for our section to be called for practice, I saw these women enrolling in college. Parang kailan lang... I was one of them. As I entered the gate, my eyes were wandering everywhere to take in the place. Nang una, nalalakihan pa ako sa school kasi maliit lang 'yung school ko nung 4th year ako. Pero sa ngayon, naliliitan na ako.

I still remember my entrance exam—and my sudden onset of temporary deafness... Napagalitan pa ako kasi 'di ko sinunod 'yung directions. Eh 'di ko kasi narinig, eh! Leche!! I was with my friend Narda at the time, who is also my classmate now.

Whew! Ganito pala ang college. Very stressful, very busy, pero okay na rin—natututo naman ako, eh.

Good Videos starts with good songs

Music videos are all the rage these days! There are so many music channels playing good—and not so good—videos.

Dati naman, hindi uso ang mga videos. Take the Eraserheads, for example—they didn’t have a video for their first single, “Pare Ko,” and I think that goes for all the songs released in their first album. Rivermaya din ata. But now, almost all the songs you hear on the radio have a music video.

A good video should start with a great song. Take “Ang Huling El Bimbo”—the video is a narration of the song, which is why it won several awards. There are also videos that are very simple, like “Sugod,” which just uses blinking lights as a backdrop, but they add their “rocking” performance, making the video great!

Some create a storyline—some connected to the song, and some not. For instance, in “First of Summer,” they created a story out of the song. “Akap,” on the other hand, has a storyline that isn’t directly related to the song, but it still looks fantastic. “Gemini” is another example.

Pero ang usong-uso ngayon ay 'yung mga simple band performance, tapos may ibang mag-a-acting on the side. “The Day You Said Goodnight” is just one example. The most recent video I saw with this theme is “Kung Ayaw Mo Na Sa Akin” by Sugarfree. But I prefer it when the band or artist themselves do the acting—like in “241,” “Umaasa,” “Ordertaker,” and “Akap,” to name a few.

Meron namang videos made just for the heck of it—yung tipong gagawa lang ng video because it’s their next single and needs to be promoted. An example is “Can’t Let You Go” by Cueshé. Some feature a simple band performance like “Narda”—the song was such a hit on the airwaves, but not as much as a video.

Meron ding videos that feature a celebrity or artist making a cameo role—like “Hari ng Sablay” and “Inuman Na.” The most recent videos with this concept are “Pintura,” “Umaasa,” and “DVDX.”

Then there are bands whose videos make the track sound even better, even if the song isn't that great—like Kamikazee and Parokya ni Edgar. You always look forward to their releases, even if you’re not a huge fan, because they are always so funny in their videos!

Review:

It is a great sophomore album from a group of young musicians. They can create heavy and light songs at the same time. As far as the songwriting is concerned, nag-evolve or mas nag-mature pa. I think people will like this even more. The songs here are catchier than the previous one, but it’s all good. I feel the emotions that they want to convey.

1. Bitiw – A great opening song for an album! Mapapa-look forward ka sa iba nilang songs. It’s an upbeat track that can make you headbang. It’s a song for their fellow musicians to continue rocking out and make sure na "huwag kang bibitiw bigla," because of course, they dreamed about it and fortunately achieved it. They also give advice that "walang laglagan" or no backstabbing each other because "sama-samang hahanapin ang liwanag." Very meaningful yet beautiful.

2. Tuliro – They always have background noise, even in their 1st album. It’s cute, ha. The style is kinda like E-Heads, with noise in the background. This is about what happens when you're in love and don't know what to do or what you feel—it is "tuliro." One of my favorites. I love the end part where there's like a choir or something, and the "tuliro, liro, tuliro, liro" part.

3. Movie – A narrative story about watching a movie with a loved one. It’s like we can relate to what’s happening to us through those movies we've watched. I also love it.

4. The Wandering – Another upbeat song, but an English track this time.

5. Gunita – A light song. I like Gosh when he writes Tagalog songs. It’s a song made to cherish the times you have with your friends and loved ones, because people come and go, and you don’t know how much time you have with them exactly. Live every moment and make it all count.

6. Do You Know the Feeling? – I also like this. When I heard this, I thought they revived an old song—parang may katunog na old song! It’s a song that pays tribute to the '80s glam rock / stadium rock era. It’s simply looking back at what you felt and realizing that things have already changed.

7. Sa Bingit Ng Isang Paalam – It’s about how hard it is to say goodbye to someone you love. It’s also about what might happen next or the consequences when someone leaves.

8. Myself in You – It’s like a continuation of “Jillian,” which Chris wrote and sang. Nag-evolve na 'yung relationship. It is also one of my favorites! Ang ganda din kasi ng sound.

9. All We Need – It talks about heartbreak, but the sound is upbeat so it can uplift you and leave you inspired.

10. Nocturne – It’s like “Neon.” I like it! The lyrics and the sound match each other. Yael always has this kind of song in their albums.

11. Pasubali – It is about denial—a straightforward song.

12. Harapin – Tastefully ends the album listening experience on an optimistic note. The soaring chorus leaves one with a sense of assurance. It talks about the reality of tomorrow, of the future, and encourages a hopeful sentiment towards the inevitable.

Packaging: Kakaiba sa mga CD na meron ako. I feel this is the reason why it’s expensive.

Overall: I like it! It’s an album na masarap pakinggan when you’re doing something, because there are upbeat songs to wake you up and "chillax" songs if you want to slow things down. It’s also nice to listen to with friends because you’ll remember past memories and everything. About the 295 bucks price—I don’t really like the idea of the price. Siguro kasi kuripot ako, but because Odyssey Record Bar included a free magazine-like booklet about the band with some pictures, okay na rin 'yung price. But other record bars don’t have that… so bahala na kayo if you’ll buy it. 8 rock stars.

Centennial Celebration: a celebration under the fu@#ing sun

It all started with a mass held at the field. There weren't enough chairs, so kung saan-saan lang kami nakaupo. After the mass, we ate at this carinderia with my friends. We were saving money because Christmas was approaching, and we also wanted to try something new because we were sick of the Taft fast food chains and restaurants we usually went to.

After that, we needed to change our clothes: all-black attire for our MassKara Festival dance. We changed in the male C.R. Tapos wala nang pakialamanan, hubaran na—we were all girls, anyway! And galit na galit na si Batch Rep! We went to the field to line up, then we started walking under the raging heat of the sun while wearing our black outfits. Just imagine how hot it was as we walked to the venue at 1:00 in the afternoon. Our white skin turned red—a sign that we were almost cooked!

If that wasn't enough, we were placed at the side of the track oval where it wasn't shaded. We were already experiencing hell even though we were still alive!! (Magpapakabait na po ako!!!) Lucky grade-schoolers and high school students—they were in the shaded area! I could already hear my blockmates cursing our school because we were already scorching. Thank God they moved us to a better place!

The celebration started with a pep rally. I don’t know why, but I felt goosebumps while we were cheering for our school. I felt happy to see that everyone was happy, in spite of what happened a while ago. The crowd noise became louder when the helicopter arrived. It was there because of the human logo that they were going to form. Then, the high school and college pep squads performed.

When they were finished, it was time for the college freshies to show what we’ve got as we danced festival street dances! It wasn't hip-hop or Harlem dances—it was festival dances such as Ati-Atihan, Panagbenga, MassKara, Dinagyang, and Sinulog. We were the second to the last to perform. Oh man!! I really suck at dancing. I couldn't move because of the huge maskara we had. The worst thing is that it was caught on video! I don’t want to watch it.

After that, the grade school and high school students also performed. But the most awaited part was the human logo, which I didn’t see because we were at the bottom section of the track oval. It’s okay, I’ll just wait for the pictures.

Then it was time to call it a day. I saw my high school classmate and told her na sabay na kaming umuwi. She introduced me to her blockmates and friends. I’m happy that it’s finished. The practices and exposure to the sun will finally pay off because it'll be part of our midterm grade.

I saw Gab Alipe and the rest of Urbandub on Wazzup Wazzup! They performed “Frailty.” Congrats to Gab for being Vocalist of the Year at the recently concluded NU Rock Awards! ASTIG kayo!!

Review:

Pupil is Ely Buendia’s band after Eraserheads and The Mongols. Ely, along with Dok Sergio (bass), Yan Yuzon (guitars), and Bogs Jugo (drums), has come up with an understandably great rock album to have. I don’t know if they were the only ones who came up with the idea that all of them, plus their manager, sing on an album. Guitar-driven, heavy sounds, and good lyrics are all here. 'Yung voice din nila pare-pareho, nakakantok—but in a good way. That’s their style, eh. You can’t mistake this for an E-Heads album even though Ely's vocals are just the same. Here, some songs talk about love, hope, driving, and fame.

1. Different Worlds – It’s the right song for a gig or concert. It says that even if we’ve been in different places or worlds (for instance, as the title implies), we manage to be in the same space. It is also about the people who go to the show and stay until it ends.

2. Blow Your House Down – It was written for a CG-animated movie called Hoodwinked!. This song is really good for an animated movie. Ely knows what really fits for anything and everything.

3. Nasaan Ka? – A song written for the late mother of Diane (Ely’s wife), but it can also be a love song. It’s about losing someone and hoping that he/she will come back. Medyo light ito compared sa ibang songs na kinanta ni Ely. I love the line, "Mahahanap din kita, kung may langit nga ba? Mahahanap din kita!!" This is one of my favorites from the album.

4. She Talks to Trees – It’s about a girl who is mysterious. He can’t understand why she is like that. Ito 'yung 'di ko masyado gusto sa album.

5. False Alarm – Bogs Jugo is on vocals in this song. It’s the first song where he handles the lead vocals. May pagka-slow 'yung music. In fairness, may boses din siya! Nakakaantok 'yung song—I don’t know if that's a compliment or what, haha! The song is about a breakup—a love that should stop because it’s a "false alarm" kind of love. 'Yung tipong kayo na, then you love each other, pero biglang naramdaman mo na hindi pa… Ang sakit ng line na "Kalimutan mo na ako, kalimutan mo na, nakalimutan ko na, kalimutan mo na na minahal kita…"

6. Gamu-gamo – It compares people to moths that are attracted to light, which represents fame to us. The song is really meaningful. Gusto ko 'yung pagka-compare ni Ely—parang kung titingnan mo lang, parang walang connection, but you know Ely is Ely!

7. Mary – Yan’s first song. I don’t like Yan’s voice—it’s a bit dull. Parang 'di masyado nagbabago 'yung notes from the 1st verse hanggang matapos. The song is about Mary, basically.

8. Hypersober – 2nd song from Bogs. May pagka-disco 'yung sound, pero mas maganda 'yung 1st song niya.

9. Dulo Ng Dila – The one and only song that Dok sings, and I think he should sing more! Astig 'yung sound and 'yung lyrics. Kakaiba kasi 'yung theme niya dito—about wanting to tell something but you can’t remember, or as Filipinos say, "nasa dulo na ng dila ko." Gusto ko ito.

10. Beautiful Machines – Diane is on vocals here. Actually, gusto ko din ito. Kakaiba kasi 'yung style ni Diane, eh.

11. All This Time – After how many songs where others sang, Ely is back with this song. Maganda! Nice guitars, drums, and bass sound. Astig!

12. Dianetic – I think this is my favorite song. It’s a song that Ely wrote for his wife, Diane—kaya nga "Dianetic." I’ve read that Dianetics is a part of Scientology. According to the little that I know, Scientology is a religion where they worship aliens as God (tama ba?). Anyways, parang nag-merge 'yung meaning ng "Dianetic" sa line na "Bawat halik ay tanda ng pangako na ako’y sa’yo at magiging akin ka sa puso’t kaluluwa" which is for Diane. Kung ako sasabihan nito, papakasalan ko talaga agad, hehehe! Ang astig, ang sarap pakinggan, at nakaka-in love talaga if someone tells that to you.

Boxing makes the people come together

The world suddenly stops when the most awaited boxing match of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao versus Eric “El Terible” Morales as they finish their tie breaking status for the WBC Supper Feather weight Champion. The noisy people, the videoke singers, children playing, tricycles and jeepneys were all gone. They were all on their respective houses watching the event. Every time Pacquiao has a match Filipinos were always willing to support the Filipino’s pride. It is also time to forget for the mean time our problems and focus on a Filipino who was representing us. Even though halos isuka na natin ang Pilipinas sa dami ng problema mabuti meron isang Manny Pacquiao na nandyan at patunayan na masarap maging Filipino.
It is also let us to have a family bonding. In my case we were complete watching the fight on Solar Sports or ABS-CBN. When Sarah Geronimo sings “Lupang Hinirang” I felt something I can’t explain, I think mixed emotions. You can see how Filipinos support Manny. The match ends only at Round 3. Ang bilis ng laban. Hindi pa nag iinit pwet ko sa pagkaupo ko tapos na laban.
Yes, Manny Pacquiao done it again he makes the Filipino proud to be a Filipino. So mali pala si Madonna dun sa song na “Music”. “Music makes the people come together.” Dapat “Boxing and Music makes the people come together”

Late Bloomer

I envy those people who got to watch and hear Eraserheads live. Nakakainis!!! Bata pa kasi ako during the time when they were in their prime. How frustrating it is that I didn't get to like them when they were hitting No. 1 on various radio stations, winning awards left and right, and selling their albums like pancakes! Kung kailan nag-disband na sila, tsaka ko lang sila nakilala at nagustuhan. Actually, I knew them or heard their songs back then, but not to the point of buying their albums, watching them on TV, or whatsoever, unlike today. I am flabbergasted by how they wrote and created songs that were just right for everyone.

There are a lot of bands these days, but I think no one will be able to reach the Eraserheads status—you know, releasing an album and, on its first day, it goes Gold, and the next day, Platinum… Pero I’m puzzled, kasi kahit na sikat na sikat sila, nagsasawa din pala ang mga tao sa kanila. During their last few albums, konti na lang ang bumili.

I remember what Chito Miranda said—that he prayed every night for the Eraserheads to get back together. I read in a magazine that Mark Escueta regretted that the E-Heads disbanded. About the E-Heads vs. Rivermaya rivalry, Rico Blanco was honored that they had that kind of rivalry—good competition! And if you ask musicians about their musical influences, Eraserheads will always be on the list.

So ngayon, I’m content with watching their videos on MYX, MTV, or YouTube. I wish that they would have a...

...REUNION, kahit na it’s impossible at this point. I understand, because they are busy with their respective bands, so I know a reunion is not their priority. But if they want to make a lot of money, they should have this reunion, and I’m sure that even if ₱1,000 is the lowest price, a lot of people will go—and I'll be one of them! Basta sabihin lang nang maaga para mapag-ipunan. And I think Araneta won't even be enough!

Or maybe kahit magbalik lang 'yung friendship nilang apat. Kahit wala na 'yung reunion, because mas importante 'yung pagsasamahan na nabuo nila while they were in the band. Sayang naman kasi, 'di ba? Parang kung ako isa sa kanila, nakaka-upset na after 10+ years, bigla na lang magkakalimutan or magkakailangan. I know na sina Raimund, Buddy, and Marcus are still close. Si Ely lang ata ang napalayo, but I read that he is close with The Dawn (where Buddy is a member). So I think they can still resolve things.

But I remember this, and it’s quite sad when Ely was asked in an interview if he still talked to the other ex-E-Heads members: “Hindi na,” he said. And he added a shocking reply: "I already forgive them, but I also forget them." How come? Parang fragmented, eh. He said that he already forgave them, pero he doesn't want to remember them. If you want to forgive, kailangan makalimutan mo na what happened, but not the person. If that’s the case, a reunion will not happen.

Whatever happens, I will continue listening to their songs, continue buying their albums, and continue daydreaming about a reunion. That’s all I can do.

Video Review I

1) Waltz by Hale The video is quite boring. At first you will feel excited on what will Champ will do with his leading lady. His leading lady just stands there for the whole time. I think its better if she acts like she is bad because in the song it shows that way “I hate the way you are. So mean to me by far. The most frigid girl that I ever know.” The song shows how the guy is really angry with that girl but in the Champ and the girl’s scene I can’t se that. I think the best part is when Roll, Omnie and Sheldon shows what I’m looking for-the angst, anger and madness by throwing stuffs, breaking a guitar and punching the wall.

I will give 2 and a half stars for breaking expensive guitars, lights and glasses.
 2)Take my hand by Calla Lilly It reminds me of the e-head’s video “With a smile”. I don’t know why but maybe because the members of Calla Lilly were costumes and they also have this young girl with pretty white dress or maybe because Kian looks like Ely Buendia. The story of the video is about his girl who was bored while eating dinner with his family. He saw a boy under the table and “take his hand” and joined him in a happier world where there were some clown, drummer boy, magician (portrayed by calla lilly). Same with the E-heads video the girl became happier with the band members.
I will give 3 and a half stars for picking a more beautiful girl.


3) Bitiw by Sponge Cola The video and their album has the same concept. They put animation. The train, tricycle, bill boards and everything is made of animation. The only real were the Sponge Cola boys. The video shows some places in Manila and of course the guys rockin performance. They did some acting there like going at the top of the train and balancing themselves. They always make a video that is simple but elegant video like Klsp, una, Gemini and Jeepney that all went to number in Music Charts.
3 and half stars are just right for them.



4) Umaasa by 6cyclemind Barilan… that’s not surprising that they have this action video because they were 5 boys in the band. It’s about a girl (Nancy) that some guys kidnapped. I like the “Barilan” effect. These guys can act. I just fon’t like the Francis M. scene where he just rap. I’m so focused on the “barilan” scene because I want to know who got shot by whom. Parang I love the scene that I don’t want to cut it. I think its Chuck or Tutti who was left alive and sae Ney then Ney let nancy escape. Ney died then Nancy saw him lying in the floor so she gets a gun then… to be continued…Damn!! I want to know what will happen next.
I love it!! I will give 5 stars.

2nd sem. It’s so good to hear. I’m halfway through my journey being a college fresh woman. Time really runs fast. I remember how I struggle in meeting new friends in my first days. Now I have friends that I’m happy with. I learned a lot. Siguro dapat lang. the tuition fees is no joke. at first I don’t want to change our professors. Pero when I saw my Philosophy prof wahahaha!!! Ok lang… he’s handsome ha…

1) Ang Huling Elbimbo- The video speaks for the song. I mean the song has great lyrics so the video is just a narration of the song. I also chose it for the number 1 spot because it won several music video awards here and outside the country.
2) Gemini- May pagka theater effect ito. I love the Romeo and Juliet theme. I love the lines that Yan Yuzon(Romeo) and Ina Feleo(Juliet) tell. Even if there is a scene that Yan and Ina acts, still, the Sponge Cola boys were not eaten by the acting of the two. They perform proficiently.

3) Tumatakbo- This is a video with 3D animation. The first OPM artist to venture in this 3D setting.
4) Sugod- Very simple yet elegant. They just have a black and lightning background and vigorous performance that makes this a superb video.

5) First of Summer- If you don’t know the band then you saw the video you might think it’s a foreign band. The video was astounding. I like the story that they made.
6) 241- Nakakakilig na video. Rico Blanco did something different here, kissing a girl. I like the story. It fits the song. Two guys for one girl.

7) Daliri- A bloodcurdling video.
8) Akap- inexplicable video. I can’t understand why Aia de Leon agreed on the 2 guys to get her inside in the trunk of the car
9) Paano nangyari yon? - A comical spoof of the fantastic videos, Akap, The Day You Said Goodnight and Sugod. I’m laughing hysterically when the plump vocalist was trying to copy the video “Akap” where he was placed at the trunk of the car. Obviously, he doesn’t fit on it.

10) Sa Uulitin- Very 80’s. It’s right for people like me who doesn’t exist at that time. It gives idea on how people in the 80’s dress, hairdos, place looks like.
