Bagong Sem

“Bagong liwanag…”

Another semester had passed and another yet to come. I got some chills down at my spine because of the possibility to take my Accounting 2. I dropped it last year and I didn’t take any summer because I need a break from all the hurt that my Accounting subject brought to me. I am not used of having low grades. It’s not being arrogant ha. No matter what, whether I like it or not, I need to go back to my Accounting 2 and hopefully this time I will learn a lot.

I will pray to all the saints just to be successful this time. It sounds absurd or desperate but I did something wrong so I must take some actions. I think I need some dose of Pupil to give some adrenalin rush. hahaha labo!! Ayos pala yung ma sad straight English… hahaha

GIG-GOLO

“Magsasaya ang lahat magsasayaw ang lahat…”

While I am writing this, I’m still in daze. Why? I watched Pupil’s gig at Robinson Manila. Mind you it’s not my first time to watch the gig of Pupil but it’s my first time to watch them perform their new songs from the album “Wild Life”. Last day of exams and what an excellent way to end my 1st sem is to watch a Pupil gig at Robinson Manila. I went alone to let me realize things about myself and surroundings (mag soul searching daw sa gig) Umalis ako sa bahay ng mga 2:40 p.m. atat ba? Hindi kasi I lied to my mom telling her that I’ll go back to school then go to Rob. The truth is I went straight to Rob. Nag LRT lang ako. Bumaba ako sa Pedro Gil. Galling pala ako sa Libertad. I’m not used to go to Robinson na commute because when my friends and I go there we usually ride on cab kasi mas tipid sa amin galling kami from school (Isko). Pero pag uwi LRT ko. Naligaw ako!! It took me almost 1 hour to find Robinson. Like PGH, PCU, tapos yung mga clinic.

Atrium

Dumating sa point that I want to go back home than asking directions. Asking something is not really my thing (kahit sa school). I didn’t ask for directions but mag 4:00 na so I asked the girl vendor. Then she told me go straight ahead. And alas!! Medyo mahaba pang lakaran. Siguro over-all naka 1km ako sa paglalakad. (baka hindi lang). Buying Pupil’s cd is the entrance to the gig. Then when I’m there I realized I left my “Wild Life” c.d. shit!! I don’t know if can still enter kung dinala ko man yung c.d. pero siguro mapag-uusapan naman. Naiinis talaga ako. Then nung nagkalakad ako when I looked at my left I saw Yan and Wendell. Not sure if Dok and Ely were also there. na star struck ako. Partida di pa face to face. I also realized that mas gwapo si Yan kaysa Yael (Crush ko si Yael ha. Then I saw the poster and it’s stated mga 5:00 pa. So went there somewhere. So tagal naming naghintay pero the good thing is they were playing “Sala” my current LSS. Talagang in one day 10 times ko pinakikinggan yan. Pang patanggal asar yung pag play ng “Sala” for me. mga 20 times ata pinatutog.

Merong iba na they are watching, out of curiosity lang or because of Ely lang. but for me my intension is to hear Pupil live performing new songs from “Wild Life” album so parang plus na lang kung magkaroon ng chance to sign my album. What I also notice is Ms. Day and I don’t know kung sino yun, yung nagbebenta ng pupil pins, they are really supporting Pupil, by, for example playing songs talagang nag he-head bang sila. What I am trying to say is these guys are always with Pupil, so it means they are always watching them perform so ang gandang tignan na with that gig todo support sila.

Oh Romeo!!
Ely wowed the audience
Sumasabay sa bagong gupit!!

weeh!!

First song they performed was “Nasaan Ka” from Beautiful Machines. Parang warm up song. Then “Monobloc”. Maganda yung reception ng tao dun sa song because maybe of the title. It’s unique. Tapos si Dok “Sumasabay”. I like how Dok sings because he is singing with his eyes close. Feel na feel. Then si Yan naman with “Talon”. This is my favorite song of Yan sa lahat ng kinanta niya from 1st and 2nd album. Then “Disconnection Notice.” I really like this upbeat song. then Ely, while playing guitars is parang dancing by moving his shoulders. Astig. Then “Set Me Apart”. Then last song na dapat kaso people was asking for more. Yan asked ely kung pwede pa. then they perform “Pare Ko” since matagal din daw kami naghintay and we stayed watching them. Nakakatindig ng balahibo talaga. They made “Pare Ko” as if it’s from Pupil. Then “Sala”. My favorite song pero mas maganda pa rin pag live.

I enjoyed the gig because each member has their own style. Wendell, the drummer is all out playing his drums that the hi-hat, cymbals etc. ay muntik ng matanggal. Partida diba medyo acoustic ang binabanatan niya. Then si Dok, cool and papikit pikit style. Si yan yung nag li-lead meaning leading people what to do. Like put your hands in the air while clapping, pumunta sa harapan etc. tsaka joke time. Natawa ako nung kinamusta niya yung nasa taas tapos baka puro puyo na lang yung nakikita nila. Then si Ely steady na tahimik pero rock and roll. Serious din. Pero ang astig ng pag perform niya. Yung pupil steady lang pero todo rock and roll.

Now I therefore conclude that Pupil is one of the best bands in the Philippines. At hindi pa at never ma lalaos si Ely.

Last Song Syndrome for this year

“Coz’ the last song syndrome here, Is your voice I hear…”

I am really glad Imago made another ballad like this. I hope they lesser the “Tara Let’s” kind of song, although it’s also good but Imago is known and best in nice lyrics and ballad kind of music.

~~+Rebound by Silent Sanctuary may 10 play count siya and the same thing sa sundo and other songs will follow hindi kasama yung sa mp3, cds… for me sa album ito yung best song nila. I like how they incorporate their fondness of playing basketball to a song about a relationship.

~~+Call Center by Cambio they are back!! May 6 play count. I heard na may bad comments about the song. kasi parang sa song pinag tyatyagaan niya lang magtrabaho dun sa call center… pero ayos to!!

~~+Lss by Stonefree ito yung pinakagusto kong kanta from them. I think maganda yung album nilang delorean from the first one. May 13 play count

~~+So Blue by SinoSikat? I’m really glad I learned about their music. I am not into soul but yung goal ni Kat is to bring the soul out of every one and eventually na capture niya yung sa akin. ang astig niya for doing that and for knowing that konti lang ang may gusto sa soul…11 play count

Parang may gayuma ata yung song…

~~+ Stolen by Dashboard Confessional “they have stolen my heart…” may time din na pinakinggan namin ni Laisa to sa mga isang araw more than 7 times. Papalit palit yung solo tapos yung may babae na back up…

~~+Safety in Numbers by Urbandub ang ganda ng kwento ng song. kasi they are far away from each other. He kept telling to himself that waiting was fine pero in his heart every hour hurts except the last one kills. I just realized that pwede siyang pumantay sa galling ni Ely Buendia sa song writing or Ebe Dancel and Rico Blanco.

~~+Signal Fire by Snow Patrol I have one word Astig!!

~~+Pilit by Hilera I never thought they could sing this kind of song. Flexibility is one characteristic they have in order to stay longer and be more successful. 11 play count…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Oops… Pacquiao and Meralco did it again!

Oct. 7 (Sunday)

“Tagumpay… Alab ng puso sinuma’y di sususko. Tagumpay"It’s Pacman vs. Barera!! But before that I went to our Parish priest’s son. O.k. wait before thinking anything, he has adopted son. So we just ate there. Then Boxing na. Then yung highlight na ng event is of course Packman vs. Barerea. So someone from Mexico sang their national anthem first. Pasaway si Packman nakaupo sabi nga tumayo eh. Then when Kyla will sing the anthem, nawalan ng kuryente. Sheesh!!! My father really got frustrated not able to watch or hear Kyla sings. Yung fight, ok lang because we all know that pangpatagal ang commercials. My father also said baka pakana ng ABS CBN, because Meralco is somehow related to ABS CBN’s owner. But wait I want to put “Lupang Hinirang” lyrics. You all know about the controversy about this song. nakaka pressure pala itong kantahin.

Then when everything is said and done… Pacquiao did it again. Tumigil nanaman ang galaw sa Pilipinas for about 3 hours (halos 30 minutes lang yung laban pero yung fight took 3 hours). Congrats!! Pacquiao did it again as well as Meralco!!

Bagong Liwanag

Album Title: Bagong Liwanag
Album Artist: Rivermaya
Content: 5 tracks
Price: 290 bucks at Tower Records (but at some record bars I heard it’s less than 200 bucks)

Review:This is the album after the recent demise of their vocalist Rico Blanco who is also the song writer for the band. What I could say is the theme for the song is Rico, how they cope about what happened and about next chapter to the life of Rivermaya. “Sayang”, is the open letter for the fan. It talks about what they feel what they do after all and tell us what we suppose to do. Although the song says that “Sayang ang luha” for me it has a dipper meaning and its saying si Rico. Why? “Sayang” is quite sad but kind of uplifting (lalo na kapag fan ka talaga ng band). “Banda ng Bayan” is a song about musicians, reality, enjoying and making music. I like this song because they inject some of their previous hits like “Elisi”, “Isang Bandila”, “Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo”, and “Panahon Nanaman”. I also like kung pano nag blending sina Mark and Mike with the voice of Japs. Then “Olats” is a slang term for talo. Mark wrote this song. I think it’s about the previous vocalists. With this line “kawawa na naman tayo. Ganyan talaga Talo na naman tayo kahit binuhos ko ang lahat talo nanaman tayo” for me kaya talo nanaman tayo because it seems like they are going back to the start. Rico is the heart and soul of the band. No wonder it is such an enormous lost for the band. “Sumigaw” is now Studio 23’s Station I.D. may line dun na “Sumigaw tumingin kung saan ka nanggaling …” for me parang may connection parin si Rico. It’s kind of clear isn’t it? then the last song is “Nawawala” it’s my least favorite song from the album. Mike is the voice behind that song. and parang hindi ata na edit yung voice. Parang playa sa mga notes.
Well, this album is not that great if you compared to their previous album with Rico. I think it’s because parang they came up with an EP para magparamdam sa fans na nandito pa rin sila. But a thumbs up for Japs, Mike and lalo na kay Mark na never pa atang kumanta sa album.

Who will like it?The fans who stayed and still willing to support Rivermaya after the demise of their vocalist.

Best among the rest“Banda ng Bayan” for injecting Rivermaya’s old hits and “Sayang”.

Album Sleeve:
It’s ok. Pinaka iba sa mga recent albums nila dahil dati halos puro sila yung nasa cover.

Rating:
2 and a half rock stars!!

Magtapon ay di biro

"Tama ka, walang saysay kung itutuloy pa”

I can’t understand why we Filipinos, even if someone will tell us like 1000 times that we shouldn’t throw our trash anywhere it seems we can’t throw at the right place. I’m sick seeing people throwing trash anywhere and everywhere. If only I have the guts to tell them. When I ride on a jeepney and be able to watch people, I always catch a person throwing trash. The day is not complete without someone throwing his/her trash. Are they not there when landslides, flashfloods happened? Are they not yet contented to the effects that happened? Are they still wanting for more? I think even all of their family members will die it wouldn’t still help them to avoid throwing trash. I know it’s kind of rude but what if that’s the only answer?

looks impossible but just ordinary to us

I think I have the right to tell to not throw garbage or trash anywhere because I don’t. If you will look at my pocket or bag after class you will see trash, candy wrappers. I’m so disappointed when one time I saw my professor throwing her candy wrapper somewhere. She is the one who let us hear an asin song called “tignan mo ang kapaligiran” (not sure with the title). She also tell us about what are surrounding looks like a long time ago, the effects of garbage and everything about environment. It frustrates me.

ito yung itsura ng trash can just in case di pa kayo nakakakita

Maybe when I caught somebody and ask why he or she throws his or her trash I think she/he doesn’t know why he or she is doing it. It is like a hobby or worse mannerisms. I myself when I was a child I was throwing trash anywhere. I throw trash anywhere because
1) I saw adults throw trash
2) The adult told to me to throw it anywhere
3) I don’t think of the effect it would bring
What you could do if you have trash at your hand
1) search for a trash can
2) if no trash can is available keep it
3) then throw it when you already find one

When is the time (or will it happen?) that we Filipinos (I concentrate to Filipinos because we should start first at our own country) will be aware or conscious about the effects of throwing trash anywhere. I will try to borrow some line of the motto of Pondo ng Pinoy “Kahit maliit, basta malimit, patungong langit”. I want you to remember “Kahit maliit, basta malimit, baha ang kapalit”.

Tryin' to change

“I see my sigh going up to heave in a sky Full of shattered hopes and bleeding dreams”

As I read my post I think I don’t have those great journal entries. I will try at least to impart something that will be slightly useful. I want to talk about not just music but a little of politics (if my mind permits), environment, showbiz, business world etc. and I will still talk about my daily thoughts if I have. Ok so let’s try to do it now.

…..
……
……

Wa epek!! Hehehe… I will post na lang my project for theology about my presemt milieu. I got 94% for this while some got only 80 ++. Hahaha yabang!!

Here’s the present milieu of me and my surroundings. This is how I look the environment, people at our surroundings and even in religious matters. In environment, we all know that we are experiencing global warming. Lots of animals became extinct because of nowhere to live. Illegal loggers are everywhere and they are there to cut all trees that they could see. We are experiencing drought because of lack of rain. Then when it rains we are experiencing abundance of water in form of flood. A long time ago my parents and my grandparents always tell to me how beautiful and simple life was. Fresh air was there, fresh food, everything is so nutritious. But now, when all that fast food chains dominated it seems we can’t get enough of it. Another is the price. My grandparents always make us jealous by telling stories about how cheap a commodity was. How lucky they are, I said to myself. Now we’re here in the 21st century where under the control of technology. I have a fear that when the time comes the computers or robots are the one controlling us. Now I am kind of aware about what’s happening in my environment. I do simple things to take care Mother Earth. I remember myself throwing trash everywhere. How shameful that act was. I turn off machines, computers, lights etc. when I will not use that. I also try to teach my little brothers’ simple act. All things can start in simple and small things.
About the person surrounds me, I think now they are more liberated and opinionated. Some are not contented in what they have. They always want the new one or what they see to other people. But I think the number of people who are doing something different and good to our country increased. Like there are a lot of foundations, organizations that assist less fortunate or anyone that needed help. With that it’s kind of inspires me to do something that I can impart to people who needed my help. I want to make a difference. As what my professor said is we are like an iceberg 2% is only showing. It’s sad because God gave us this life then we will only show only 2% of it. That’s why I need to get out of my seat and start and think something because is not yet too late. I now I can formulate something out of my mind. A woman in another hand continues to convey to the world that we’re not just ordinary human beings. We can do something to make a difference. What I see in students is they strive hard in order to graduate or to attain success. They really use a lot of time study; make assignments but what good is they also have time with themselves, family and friends. That’s what I’m doing. I have goals in life. So I need to create a plan or the things what to do in order to achieve success. Sometimes I fail but it doesn’t mean I can’t stand up. I think again and reflect what I did. Then stand up and go again with what I planned.
In religious matter we follow what the Church they believe in then we will believe the same. I think that people nowadays are more into praying. Like when President Arroyo said that we should pray to ask for rain we followed her then we prayed to God. Then after a few days typhoons seems can’t get enough of our country. One typhoon is followed by another one then another again. It only shows that God really bestow us when He think we really needed it. That’s the power of prayer. I always pray. Prayer is really magical. You should also think of what you pray for. I remember that I prayed for something but regret it afterwards when my wish was granted.

Arriba San Beda!!

I am neither a Lasalita nor an Atenista but I am a Kulasa. I watched the LaSalle vs. Ateneo game where the latter lose. Only one point is the difference. I don’t know what got me watching their game. I am not a basketball fan, and not from those schools. Well, my school is near to LaSalle and most of musicians are from Ateneo. LABO!! hehe Maybe because last Monday I listened to the double trouble at NU 107. and we all know na matindi ang kompetisyon ng dalawang school na ito.
Well it’s not strange if I will like watching basketball now. I remember when I was a child my big brother and me always plays this NBA basketball cards. This cards is similar to the Pokemon cards where there’s a picture. Then the points, rebounds etc. where put on that card tapos parang pataasan. I don’t know if my brother only made it up. I also remember that I played basketball with him. No choice siya eh. At that time we are not allowed to play outside so ako lang talaga makakalaro niya. Then when PBA is so popular my family watches that always. I think telenovelas, koreanovelas, chinovelas are not that popular pa. I remember to like Ginebra. I don’t know why. And I have a crush on Marlou Aquino (Tama ba?) basta yung may parang goggles. Well now I have this crush to Chris Tiu of Ateneo Blue Eagles. I could say mas gwapo ang mga Atenista kaysa Lasalista.
Now I also watch this cartoon “Slum dunk”(well I watched that before kaso nakalimutan ko na istorya) because the characters are funny and also the story. It’s a story about how Hanamitsi Sakuragi learn to play basketball.
I want to be part of the crowd. It’s funny I need to watch a game of our school against benilde to cheer to our school but I will not attend. I should study on a university or a co-ed college. Bwiset!!
Animo!! LaSalle although I don’t know what does it means.

Ang Pag-ibig Alinsunod sa Pakete ng Tide Ultra

Ni Gilbert M. Sape
Sabi ko
Ayaw kong maglaba

Upang kumupas at walang Makikita
Sa mantsa ni Eros

4) banlawan
maraming banlaw
at tiyaking maisama sa tubig
ang mga sentinmiyento at paghihinayang

5) ibuhos sa kanal ang tubig
upang makapagtago sa burak
ang mga pagsinta

6) isampay sa mahanging lugar
ang nilabhang damdamin
pabayaan itong makahinga
matagal na rin namang
naikubli sa baul

pagmumuni pagkakatapos…
napigaan ko na ang damit mariin
nakalimutan ko nga lamang
pigaan ang tubig sa aking mata
paalam muna
samantala’y magpatuyo muna ako
ng damit
ng mata
sana’y walang makakita
salamat sa pakete ng tide ultra

Street foods ala pobre

"Hindi mapakali magdamag hinahanap nababaliw tuwing naalala ang init. Hindi malimutan kailangan muling makamit ang tamis sa aking mga labi"

It’s really true that “masarap ang bawal”. I am not really allowed to eat street foods. But of course I am not that obedient. I love street foods such as isaw, fish ball, adidas,

fishy fish ball

chicharong bulaklak to name a few. Last Sunday I went to church for my church involvement. Then after that I saw a fish ball vendor. My saliva started to drop. When I am grade school I remember that I seldom buy fish ball. Why seldom because I am also scared to have a disease such as hepatitis, gastroenteritis, diabetis (hehehe joke). My little brother got hepatitis when he is about 5 years old when he ate something. I also remember what the fish ball vendor looks way back in grade school. And I saw him when I bought fish ball last Sunday. Ang sarap grabeh. But really, while eating that it’s like I could see the bacteria at the sauce. They say that what are really dangerous in eating fish ball is the sauce and the oil. I got gross at time on what the fish ball or any street food looks like but what I can’t do anything it’s delicious.
Isaw pa nga

I’m still hungry I asked my little brother to eat isaw. Then we buy chicharong bulakalak. The most delicious bulaklak of all the bulaklaks. Sarap. Then after that I prayed that I will not get hepatitis.

steak ala pobre. definitely not for pobre

Gang of good

“Good boy good boy ang bait mo naman sana kunin kana ni Lord” I am now awake by the slap of truth on my face. I am living a life that it’s not hard to live, that’s full of mystery and most of all full of problems. With 17 years of living here in earth I start thinking if what I did. Did I do something good with others? Maybe slightly yes maybe slightly no. I look up to those people who work hard for others. I know a lot. Some know me but a lot don’t know me. Example is from my church org (actually temporary lang because it’s for school purposes only) Sis Lina. She is from Caritas foundation. She looks and behaves “mataray”, “masungit”. At first I can’t understand why she is like that but I learned her struggles, and how she helps other people that sometimes or maybe all of the time she is not earning from what she is doing. She is a volunteer so it means she doesn’t get anything. She only gets something when someone gives money to her. Anyways, nandyan din si Gang Badoy of Rock Ed. I think she loves rock and she wants to share her knowledge and what a brilliant idea, she came up with the idea the Rock Ed which her 2 favorite things combine with each other. Ang dami pa. alam ko. Yung iba anonymous. I said to myself I wanted to be like them. Female who rocks. Female who rock the world. kailan kaya makikita ang ngalan ng katulad sa akin na nasa balita dahil may nagawang maganda sa kapwa?

Trying Trinoma

“Trip mo trip ko kahit san ka pa patungo. Trip ko Trip mo walang iwanan wala ding tatalo trip mo bang sumama sa paglalakbay?”

It’s PAASCU Accreditation. So what I, Anj and Lisa did was we went to the newly opened Trinoma somewhere at Quezon near SM North Edsa. Eh we are from Manila, Malate to be exact(yung school). Actually nag cutting classes lang kami (pls. don't try this at home it's dangerous) because we suppose to report kaso di nagawa ni Lisa so takas kami. Anyways, all of us haven’t gone to Trinoma so we don’t know how to go there. We agreed on riding a taxi because it’s convenient. The taxi driver said it’s more convenient to ride in the MRT than riding on a taxi because it will cause a lot. So we agreed with him then he accompanied us to Ayala Ave.
MRT
Near Glorietta to ride MRT there. while inside we talk about people we can’t talk about when we are inside the school. Bad ba? Anyways, I noticed that yung metro ay ang bilis ng andar. Then when we are at the MRT we realized that we should just go to Buendia MRT Station. Mas convenient and cheap. I think we can just ride a jeep. Stupid us. Anyways hati hati naman kami eh. So 20 buck each. When we’re at the MRT, I learned that it’s the first time Lisa will ride on a MRT. While me and Angela, it’s not the first time but we seldom ride on it. so we’re like a probinsyana. ASTIg… tapos inside kwentuhan… like when we see billboards we will go like “Ay nagpa retoke yan”, “Ay bakla yan” hahaha… ang saya. We bonded talaga. When we’re at Trinoma already we roam around. Actually we have really light reason why we went trinoma, because in Jolibee there’s a sofa. Hahaha. but we found out that it’s not what we really think of. Then we just look to something to eat. We went to Tacobell. I ordered tacos. Delicious. Then lisa is funny because she already ordered potatoes and cheese but she is still hungry so we went to Sbarro and she ordered pasta and chiken with garlic bread. Me and Anj just laughing at her because what she ordered fits for 3 persons. Lisa is just so hungry. Well, she didn’t finished it. pinabalot niya. Then nag ikot ikot. I don’t know if it’s true but they say that there’s a couple of guy that get starstrucked at me. they stared at me. hahah funny. Then we watch a movie “Nancy Drew”. Well it’s ok but I think the book is better than the movie. Then Anj and me and Lisa went separate ways. Anj is from Bulacan so she has her own route while me and Lisa is somewhat the same. We should ride on a MRT again. When we’re at the booth to buy tickets hindi pwede kasi store value lang kailangan daw ay pumunta sa foot bridge. Because we don’t know bout the place mali pala yung ginawa namin. Ang layo ng nilakaran namin. Stupid us my tawiran pala. Then we used the stairs yung sa MMDA yung pink. Eh butas butas yun di ba? Eh it’s Thursday naka palda kami. Tawa kami ng tawa kasi baka makitaan kami. Laugh trip. This trip is a lot of fun. SAYA!!
Well to sum it up trinoma is just like Glorietta so it’s like Glorietta of Quezon City.

Matic

Album Title: Cambio Matic
Label: MCA PhilippinesAlbum Artist: Cambio
Content: 13 tracks
Price: 250 bucks at Landmark record bar and 280 peso at Music 1 and Tower Records.

Review:

Before anything else Cambio is compose of Kris Dancel on vocals, Ebe Dancel on guitars and back-up vocals, Buddy Zabala on Bass, Diego Mapa on guitars and Raymund Marasigan on drums. So this is like an all star album and band. Anyways I already tell something about them so about their album their songs ay may pagka pop, alternative . at up beat. Kris’ voice is so youthful, ganda ng voice niya. Most of their songs are how they see or describe some people like “Shopaholica” it’s being shopaholic. Nakakatawa yung line na “But wait, there’s more call now and get the whole strore”. Another is “Rumaparampa” it’s like being fashionista.. “Pasaway” is a medyo slow song na about being pasaway and “Bulimic” is about people who really wanted to be very thin very applicable to Nicole Richie and Mary Kate and Ashley sisters. I like the line “Huwag kang magtataka ako’y nasusuka Wag kang maiinis di ako buntis”. “Call Center” is for me most beautiful song from their album. I really love that song. They have “Sakanasabi” which is not a Filipino song I don’t know what dialect is that pero I like the melody of the song. I like that even if di ko masyado maintindihan. What I like about their songs ay they are funny and nag rhyme. I love rhyming words. They open everything with “Admit One Thing” which I think is about the place Admit One. They have “Field Trip” na about long lost friends that you wanted to see. They end everything with an upbeat song “Passengers”.

Who will like it?

What’s good with this album is they fit for everybody. Boys, girls, adult, kid, they can relate with their songs

Best among the rest:

Definitely “Call Center” must hear din ang “Pasaway”, “Rumarampa”, and “Bulimic”.

Album sleeve:
Ok yung album sleeve which I think parang yung album nila yung color kasi parang flesh which is the color of our skin. So parang about people. Tsaka yung cover is soft to the eyes at simple lang so parang yung songs nga nila.

Rating:
7 rock stars!!

It's A- after all

“Imposible ayan tuloy hindi ako makatulog. Shit! panaginp ba ito. Imposible ni re-replay lahat ng slomo sa isip ko”

Yahoo!! I need to celebrate. Would you believe it I got A minus for not just ordinary subject. It’s Finance as in Math subject. If you don’t know why I am so happy because last year I had problems with my accounting subject that it end in dropping it. I am so happy after all that happened, happens and still happening I got A minus after all. In other subjects, in Economics I got B – but it’s tentative because our teacher got messed up with our exams. Then in Literature I’m C+ only because I missed one test and I over heard my teachers instruction at the paper that she wanted us to do. Sa P.E. B+. ok na yun because I missed my Bowling mid term exam pero I got B + pa din. In other subjects di pa sinasabi because they still computing. Babawi ako para maging dean’s lister (ASA!) hehehe!!

The "in" thing ngayon sa mga bands

This year a lot of bands are having problems with their vocalist. bakit kaya?

Banda banda bakit ang gulo mo?
Rivermaya- I think Rico started it all. Then nag gayahan na sila. Cause his lost really made an impact. Rico for me is the heart and soul of the band. So now without him is really a great challenge for the band. What I really like about the remaining members is they still continue this whole thing even they know that there’s more cons than pros. Another is at this point I can say that Rivermaya has the more lost then Rico. Of course they are not in demand these days, nahinto ang pag gig, and they are now searching for a new member. Kay Rico, for now parang hindi niya pa loss yung nangyari kasi wala pang napapatunayan ang band without him. But I know that Rico is not only the talented one in the group. And ngayon they have an EP out called “Ang Bagong Liwanag” containing five songs such as the open letter for the fans “Sayang”, the song that tells that they are still banda ng bayan inspite of what happened “Banda ng Bayan” , the station id song for studio 23 “Sumigaw” and 2 more songs.

Super Proxy

now they are searching for a new member. They said that they are open for anything like the audition is not limited for vocalist only but also guitarist, keyboardist and song writer. It’s also open for male and female, 18 and up or at least high school age. It will be on August 24 and 25 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. They require you to Bring your own Boses!!

Wasak na wasak na mungkahi

At first I think that one of them should just replace the space, because at least if one of them ang pumalit mas konti ang adjustment that we will make than sa total stranger na kasama nilang tutugtog. If a total stranger ang papalit he himself will do a lot of adjustment like pressure, criticisms, comparing and so much more that will be hard for a new comer like him or her. Pero if you think about it Rico just audition also. I think they don’t know each other. Kaya tama lang yung advertisement nila na “Do you believe in destiny?” I think na kung sino talaga ang makuha is destined to be there cause I think a lot will be auditioning because instant vocalist or member ka na ng “Banda Ng Bayan”. I think also that they should pick a guy. Maybe they will really pick a guy kaso para wala ng issue ginawa ng girl and boy. Look what happened to Eraserheads when Kris Dancel replace Ely. Kris is so talented. Her voice is so beautiful and youthful. Pero wala ding nagyari. Another is they should also get a guy na 27-30 years old. Age do matters in this kind of matter.

Orange and Lemons- I don’t know much about what happened. All I know is that Clem was kicked out from the band. And galit nag alit siya. Why? Because he said that he contributed a lot from the band. I think co-founder siya ng OnL. I think like showbiz ness it’s just a publicity stunt. Kasi I am listening at NU tapos may shoe ang Spong Cola at Sunflower day Camp kasama daw si Mc Coy, Ace and Jm. So bakit hindi Orange and lemons ang tawag sa kanila? Bakit kaya?

Super Proxy

Wala akong masyadong masabi kasi I don’t know if they will still continue the name Orange and Lemons it’s like what happened to The Mongols they changed their name because nawala yung isa sa contributor ng sound nila. So ayun. I think they will change everything. That’s just my guess.

Wasak na Wasak na mungkahi

If they will continue it I think they should get somebody that look like them. maliit, mahaba ang buhok, vintage looking, adik sa Beatles… ayun..

Banda Banda bakit ang gulo mo?

Pupil- well Bogs Jugo left the band to pursue other things. He joined Nina and he became the drummer. Not to many things to say because first of all ok lang na mapalitan siya kasi I am not a fan of Bogs. Another thing is I am not a musician or music genius so kahit anong galing niya sa pag play ng drums walang dating sa kin yun. I don’t know if how to say na magaling ka in playing drums.

Super Proxy

Tsaka with Ely, Dok and Yan as his member pipili ba sila ng kung sino sino lang?

Banda banda bakit ang gulo mo?

South Border- isa sa napakagulong banda because they keep on changing their vocalist. But what’s good is they still hit in spite of the changes occurred. I think they still hit because the heart and soul of the band Jay Durias is still there. so after Brix Ferraris, Luke Mejares then ngayon yung dalawa Duncan and Vince left the band. What I think is they are force to leave the band. Like parang contract. Pero whatever!! Jay is still there and I like Jay more than anyone else in the band. I heard that they will have a new album. I think that they are also doing something outside the band like Rivermaya. What a co incidence. Pareho pang nawala ang vocalist.

Super Proxy

Kahit wala na ok lang!! basta Jay is there. wala pang official announcement from the band. I think they will still continue even without replacing the two

How do you manage your time or how you prioritize things like for example your child has school activities and they should have their parents in that activity then you are in a gig, ano ang uunahin mo yung child/children mo or yung audience?

Banda banda paano ka ginawa?

Kjwan

(a little tribute to the band who won the ikon title. kahit na kinopya ko lang to at least you have a space at my site! CONGRATS SALUDO AKO SA INYO)

KJWAN burst onto the Philippine music scene in 2003, when the local rock music scene had forgotten who it was originally and people were almost afraid to listen to anything new. Still, they came down hard, raw, in your face, with the release of their self titled debut album (in 2004) and coined the now-familiar catchphrase, “Bastusan na!” Their hit song, “Daliri,” became an anthem to a new generation of rock listeners and being true to your self became the order of the day. Even the very word, Kjwan, seemed to flamboyantly step in your way and hounded you so that you would never forget the name, the band and the sound

This first album earned them the nominations for Best New Artist, Best Video and Best Album Packaging (along with Balbuena being nominated as Best Drummer) in local rock station NU107’s “Rock Awards.” Favorite New Artist and Best Video at the MTV Pilipinas Video Music Awards 2005 and a month long feature on MTV Philippines as the “Rising Star” Artist of the Month (Jan 2005), specifically, for their breakthrough single “Daliri.” The song, which received such a good amount of airplay on the radio and local music channels, appealed mainly to rock listeners who were fans of A Perfect Circle, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, and the earlier grunge bands that defined early 90s rock.

The Manila-based quintet is made up of distinct personalities, with individual musical tastes that don’t always overlap, and strong ideals that are often diametrically opposed. The chemistry might have combusted a lesser band before it even started, but the equally passionate friendships and shared hardships that make up Kjwan have held it together.

Long-time friends and former high school band-mates Marc Abaya (vocals) and Kelley Mangahas (bass) got together with fellow Ateneans Jorel Corpus (guitar) and J-hoon Balbuena (drums) to form the band’s initial lineup. They were joined in 2004 by Boogie Romero (guitar), another high school friend and former band-mate of Marc and Kelley, soon after the release of their self-titled debut album.

Three years later, at the height of the new music renaissance, Kjwan is braving a second album, 2StepMarv, which promises to be so many things more than their first self-titled album.

If the first album had been a simple matter of coming out, the two-year journey of making 2StepMarv was a more complicated matter of growing up—musically. They were able to craft better songs, hone their individual skills, introduce new musical elements to their primarily rock sound, and in general, just put more thought, heart and soul into the new music. They became comfortable in their new skin.

“2StepMarv is a bold step for the band,” Mangahas says. “As a collective, we really wanted to put in more of ourselves and our influences right now. With the addition of Boogie (Romero) for this album, we tried to incorporate this new sound and create a whole new dynamic for the sound of Kjwan.”

Skill-wise, three years of playing together, and more than that of playing with other bands, has honed each member enough to be confident in his own skin as a musician. In terms of new influences, they have consciously opened themselves and their songwriting to be inspired by genres other than rock. If the band has made a rock drummer out of J-Hoon, who in fact grew up not listening to rock, he in turn, introduced them to his original influences of jazz, drum ‘n bass and electronica. These, plus Kelley’s recent Hiphop / R and B and Electronic inspirations, Jorel’s recent interest in samba percussion, and the band’s elemental rock base, were the diverse elements that lent themselves to Kjwan’s collective songwriting for 2StepMarv.

Each and every one of them was more involved in all the creative processes, from the songwriting, the recording, mixing, packaging, and down to the video production of the first single “Pintura”. Marc, who writes almost all the words of Kjwan, points out that even in writing lyrics, it is easier for him to bare his soul to his bandmates, without hindrances like fear, insecurity or pretension between them. This very open friendship is a big factor in the maturity and confidence of the new album.

“Our songs are honest.” Corpus (who also religiously takes care of the band’s online business) says. “They are audible manifestations of our feelings, and the experience is a complete one, from the music to the message. We believe that, as songwriters and musicians, we are faced with a task to not only put out material that only we can relate to, but to put out something everyone can digest.”

The band worked again with noted multi-awarded producer Angee Rozul, who has recorded practically everyone who matters in the Philippine music scene for more than a decade in the acclaimed Tracks Studio in Pasig City.

“Angee is the best sound engineer in this country. Without him, we wouldn’t have even put out our first album, we owe him a lot and naturally for this record, there were no other options. He knows us best and we love working with him because were in our natural element when in his studio” says vocalist Marc Abaya

With this album, Guitarist Jorel, for instance, had the opportunity to incorporate his samba percussion skills to a couple of the songs (“Invitation” “One Look” “You Didn’t Know” and “2 Step Marv”) together with some of his fellows from Brigada (his samba percussion ensemble); while drummer J-hoon contributed his skills in track programming. Also, with regard to the addition of a second guitar, it became an important learning process for both Boogie and Jorel (who were both used to being the only guitarist in a band) to put their heads together and cooperate in order to come up with different but complementary guitar parts, while each still retained his own playing style.

Romero says “It’s a growth, from the first album, and hopefully, in the coming albums, it will grow more. So you can’t really pin your sound to one given genre. It will still grow and grow and grow.”

The band’s faith in their music held it together. A record more explosive than anything you have heard, the album has an incredible range. On one end, there are the classic guitar-driven, big riffed “Pintura” “Sa Ilalim” and “Daan” which elevate the classy, heavy sound that Kjwan is known for from their previous releases. They achieve this by adding more layers, voicing, and elements that tap into the genius of band members Romero and Balbuena, while vocalist Abaya slithers and sings about his infatuation with a mysterious woman and life revelations respectively. On the other extreme, there’s “2StepMarv” a lively track armed with an organic garage beat arranged for a mix of clean guitars and some heavy dynamics that took minor cues from drummer Balbuena’s love for broken, garage, and 2 step beats and “One Look” an insanely addictive pop song that speaks from the heart and taps Corpus’ fascination with the massive samba baterias of Rio’s carnavals.

Among all of these are gems that you might classify as cutting edge; fresh, soulful, hard hitting. “Shai” features new guitarist Boogie Romero’s dark ambient guitars, exploding towards the conclusion, with Corpus helping him build a sonic wall of guitars attacking and lingering as the song dies with the sweet mood that the band is famous for during live shows. “Invitation” opens the the listener immediately to the more secure sound of the band introducing the essential elements of the 2 guitar spacing of Corpus and Romero, The tight broken beats and solid groove of Mangahas and Balbuena and of course Abaya’s unforgettable vocals.

”You Didn’t Know” flawlessly fuses Balbuena’s jazz sensibilities with Romero’s rigid riffing. “Can’t Do That” and “Slow Shutter” highlights the band’s experience in playing with different styles as they adjust to a more soulful setting: minimal elements, sweet voicing, and a lot of dynamics. “Solana” draws attention to Mangahas and how he gels everyone together with an unyielding guitar riff and how it lets Abaya’s message ring through. He sings, “Can you believe? I found myself a special kind that keeps me safe” through the well-knit and firm foundation that his band mates created.

At the center of the record’s sound is “Focus” a beautiful piece that starts off with Mangahas and Balbuena locked together in a tight rhythmic progression, complemented by a counter rhythm by Corpus and Romero. Abaya sings “Take this away from me … take away this poison.” Referring to the classic theme of fallen relationships and honesty, in this case, the persona in this song is being honest about admitting that he has fallen out of love. “Save me from my emotions, I have lost my hold on my mind. I can’t find what you seek in me, I am not what you once loved.”

With their momentous effort for this sophomore album came great blessings too! The band won as Favorite Indie Artist in the local music channel MYX’s music awards night along with their video “Pintura” winning “Favorite Guest Appearance” with the help of a seasoned actress Chin-Chin Gutierrez, A month long feature on MTV Pilipinas as “Lokal Artist of the Month” in December 2006, another month long feature as Yahoo Southeast Asia’s band of the month and another month long feature as “Celebrity VJ’s” in MYX for the whole month of April 2006 where they got to extensively promote the new album and meet new people!

Corpus says "For this record, we hope to reach as much people as we can. We want people to listen to us. Know what we’re all about, like meeting a new acquaintance and developing friendships with our listeners that hopefully will last a lifetime”

“It’s raining men hallelujah it’s raining men amen!!”

We asked for it we got it. kanina I saw in the tv, she said that she prayed to the lord to stop the rain. Ang labo natin. We prayed for it tapos ngayon we want to stop it. sana ang prayer natin na umulan lang sa mga dams at selected fields etc.
Anyways, Ched is so unfair. Siyempre nag ko-commute kami. Angelica. Ang labo talaga oh. Bakit di sinabi agad. Leche!!

The Irritating truth- Ikon Grand finals

“I don’t want to be an American idiot”

It’s not about the simpsons. Kakapanood ko nga lang nga pala nun. So grand finals na ng Ikon. Shock nga ako eh. Ang bilis. Anyways hindi sila nag palihoy ligoy pa sinabi agad yung finalist. So gagayahin ko. Here it is

Ok ako kay Sitti and Skarlet. Yun nga yung nakalagay sa I think would win and want to win. Kaso si Vina. Asar talaga. Asar ako sa kanya. Pero infairness yung performance niya kasi I don’t know kung scripted yun nung siya na kakanta walang sound na lumalabas sa mic nya. So sumasayaw sayaw siya. Kering keri. Eh kung ako yun I don’t know what to do.. heheh as if namang makakasali sa contest. I think nagustuhan at ng judge yun. Sa band naman:

Sus maryosep!! Wala ang the dawn at sponge cola. Bakit may Kala?

So before malaman yung winner may production number muna. Like si Christian Bautista. Which I think a perfect example fo the Ikon contest kasi sikat siya sa Indonesia, Thailand… etc. then my number yung lahat ng semi finalist pati finalist kinanta nila yung “anak” which I think sumikat din sa ibang bansa. Freddie Aguilar is another example for the solo artist na sumikat sa ibang bansa.

“Now let’s get one thing straight I don’t really want to work this late”

My newest fave band. Why? Bakit hindi. The band consists of powerhouse cast. This is the post eraserheads line up with Raimund and Buddy Zabala still in their designated instruments plus Diego Mapa of Pedicab on guitars with Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree on guitars and back up vocals and Kris Gora Dancel of Fatal Posporos on vocals. Combining them is really a great idea. With their 1st album “Derby Light” they came up with catchy and nakaka lss na “DV”. Pagkatapos nun I haven’t heard of their music. Of course may “Patlang”. I think it came first. I really like Cambio not only because of it’s brilliant members, it’s because of Kris’ youthful voice and also their songs. Now with “Call Center” from their “Cambio Matic” album parang may distinguish na style or flow of the songs. Like yung “DV” and “Call Center” nga. I really can’t explain pero kung titignan mo there’s something talaga. Parang may trend. I saw their album and may mga titles such as “Pasaway”, “Totoy Boogie” and many more. I will buy nga pala sana last Friday kaso 300 lang dala ko. Eh 270 yun…so next time na lang. so ayun telling the titles I think you would understand me.
I saw them at SOP kanina kaso badtrip si Jolina yung ka jam nila. Ok sana kung si Denis Trillo.. hehhe… they really rock. And I think given na yun kasi nga they are from different great bands. sana ma promote pa nila yung band nila although I know it’s hard because of they have also different projects from their different bands.

Anyways, so kanina andun ang cambio tapos after nun yung rock legends na. sina Pepe Smith, Karl Roy, Reg Rubio and Ely Buendia. Nakakatawa kasi ely doesn’t have a mic. Tapos may gitara siyang dala. Siya lang pala yung nagigitara. Then I think gusto din niyang kumanta ng Juan dela Cruz songs such as “Balong Malalim” and “Beep Beep” ( I am not sure bout the title). Yun ely went to karl roy and share the mic pati kay pepe smith. Nung ginagawa nila yun I feel disgusted kasi pano kung mabaho hining ng isa sa kanila… hehehe… ang dikit nila eh… hehehe anyways they really rock. Astig yun. Pero what caught my attention is Raimund and Buddy is there. so pwede nang mag reunion. Tapos yung drums nasa kabilang stage. I mean I think si Buddy and Raimund ay nasa kabilang stage sa gilid kasi nga katutugtog palang ng Cambio. What if tutugtog silang dalawa kahit nasa malayong stage tapos kakanta si ely. Gets? I mean I heard lot of them say Pepe then nung si ely na yung nagsabi parang iba… hehhe… ewan ko kasi parang iba talaga… hehehehe

O diyos ko ano ba naman ito?

Aug.3 Friday

“nagmukha lang akong tanga pinaasa niya lang ako…”

No classes for this day because of the SK Registration. I am so happy so I could go to M1 where Sinosikat will play and sign cds. So I arrived there at exaxtly 3:10. I thought that I am already late and they are already playing. Pero when I arrived inaayos pa lang nila yung stage. Ok…ok.. Filipino time… I waited… waited… kaso ang init sobra because sira at yung aircondition. So I went muna sa powerbooks and read about 101 things you should know about da vinci. I wanted to buy nga pala that one kaso 500 +. Hindi ko kaya yun… anyways, mga 3:30 I went back to M1. and still wala pa ring nangyayayari. So ikot ikot muna ako sa greenbelt. I went to the church and everywhere. Tapos mga 4:00 na ata I went back and still… wala pa rin. Naiinis na ako.. imagine I have really lot of things to do. My projects, my midterm assignment, my midterm test for the next day. I wasted almost 3 hours for nothing. Tapos mga naka 5 times ata akong pabalik balik then I found out na 5;30 pa. mg 4:40 ko nalaman and I need na talaga to go home. Tapos may hidden camera pa… hehhee… ayun hindi ko napapirmahan… leche… leche…leche… tapos…

Aug 4 Saturday

Basta tinatamad ako… so I went to school… pina print yung kailangan I print… then nung dumting na yung prof baka wala dawpasok because still for the SK registration. Leche leche leche!!... may feeling na talaga ako… talagang hindi dapat ako papasok kung wala lang exam… then ayun nga yung kahapon pa… if I know na wala pa lang pasok eh di sana tinuloy ko na ang ligaya… hehehe… I mean I watched the gig instead. Bwiset!! Talaga… tapos may nangyari pa… to be continued…
